The holiday period is right around the corner! Here at Vini Per Tutti we have provided a range of wines you can crack open to kick-start any celebration. Our range focuses on three themes- Family, Classic, and Quality – and with the choice of white, red, and sparkling, our seasonal selections are designed to help you choose your festive wines effortlessly. Naturally we included two of our popular grappa’s as well, since any celebration is never complete without a digestif to round things off.
Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG
A classic Barbera d’Asti produced from the grapes of the best plots in the commune of Nizza Monferrato in Asti, by one of the first wineries in the region that initiated the estate-based “cru” for the Barbera grape. The wine carries overtones of smooth dark fruits and ripe cherries with mature characteristics from bottle ageing like smoke, tobacco, and mushrooms. This versatile wine will happily pair with any meat dish you throw at it!
Amarone della Valpolicella, Valpantena DOCG
Want to impress family and friends during this year’s holiday celebrations? This powerhouse of a wine was made from partially dried grapes to ensure greater fruit concentration and ultimately, higher intensity in the final wine. With undeniable flavours of rich dark fruit, black cherry, and blackberry, with additional undertones of chocolate and cedar, this wine will surely set the mood around the Christmas table.
DOC für Primitivo Di Manduria
This one is not for the faint hearted. From Puglia, the heartland of Italian Primitivo (Zinfandel) production, this wine carries an undeniable south Mediterranean essence to it. With pronounced scents of blackberries, plums, and blueberries, it carries itself with a strong, robust structure, yet with delicate, and silky mouth- coating tannins. Moreover, it’s time in new French oak has given it undertones of sweet vanilla and a slight pepperiness.
Chianti, Colli Senesi
Villa St. Anna
Our favourite Chianti from one of our favourite wineries! If you are a fan of Sangiovese, this wine from the historical region of Colli Senesi will not disappoint. Indeed, made by an all woman-team of winemakers- Mother and two daughters – this wine hits the top of our list for recommendations. Made from hand-picked grapes, these wonder-women have produced a complex wine with appealing notes of sour cherry and strawberry, with some subtle hints of espresso bean and tobacco!
Pinot Noir, Weinviertel
Not a common variety out of Weinviertel, but we just could not resist to include this special wine in our holiday selection. This is one of the lighter reds in the selection, but do not underestimate its perfumed notes of raspberry, ripe cherry, and some interesting orange zest on the finish. This wine will make a great match for salmon or other fatty fish, roasted chicken, duck and other game birds, as well as pasta dishes.
Wilder Wein, Weinviertel 2013
Perhaps one of our most distinctive wines from our favorite biodynamic producer in Austria! We represent several wines from this small, family-owned winery in Weinviertel, and decided to include their eccentric Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 cuvee in our end of the year list. If Bordeaux reds are your style, this one will be right down your alley. The wine carries itself confidently, with rich dark fruits like currant and blackberry, followed with a touch of green bell pepper. After 5 years of bottle ageing, the wine has developed notes of coffee and licorice.
Merlot, Messinia 2009
Our treasured Greek red which is an absolute requirement in this year’s holiday selection. From Messinia, the south-western part of the Peloponnese region in Greece, this wine is for those who want to spice things up a little bit in their celebrations with a unique, but fantastic wine. With full-bodied flavours of dark ripe berries, and a smokiness reminiscent of the majestic volcanoes of Peloponnese, this wine will not only be the life of the party, it will keep your festivities going until the new year!
Grüner Veltliner DAC, Grüner Mann 2016
Not your everyday Grüner Veltiner. Although this classical Austrian grape is not commonly aged in oak, the wine-makers took a chance here and were greatly rewarded. Indeed, this Grüner Veltliner was aged in acacia and Austrian oak giving overtones of cumin, roses, violets and cedarwood, interwoven with powerful acidity. The finish is long and spicy.
A perfumed white wine with exotic and floral intensity. Characteristics of peach, mango lime, and flint, with a slight honeyed finish. This wine, native to the volcanic lands of Peloponnese, will surely satisfy those who love aromatic wines.
Greco Di Tufo DOCG, 2016
A wine made from the volcanic and tuff-rich soils of Campagnia. A crisp white wine known for its aromatic notes of lemons, pears and toasted almonds and a lingering mineral finish.
Soave DOC, 2016
A wine with crisp acidity and light tones of citris zest, pear and peach, followed by honeyed undertones.
Malvasia Bianca, Giancola 2016
A bold wine with delightful aromas and flavours of ripe pears with after-notes of honey and smoke. The wine carries rich acidity yet maintains a plush mouth-feel that lingers long after.
A lusciously sweet moscato and a dry Barolo at your choosing.
